Well our 5 yr old had his 3rd sinus surgery Monday, October 9th, He went into the hospital on October 2nd for IV's and just got out this afternoon. Doing well. Now we are starting those fun nasal irrigations, ocean spray etc., Any one have any suggestions? Last time we had to go back into surgery and they had to put him asleep to get the "gunk" out of his nose because he was so hard to irrigate. This time he seems to be standing it a little better. Tonight we had him in the shower with lots of hot steam and then irrigated his nostrils. I thought about using the vaporizer, but I was thinking that is not a good thing to use for cfer's ?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear you're home. My son's CF doctor is against using humidifiers/vaporizers but gave a reluctant OK for the hot-vapor type that we disinfect every day. We have radiator heat and winters are horribly dry so we had to do something.

Our home gets extremely dry so I use a cool mist vaporizer for my daughter (no CF) for her allergies. She gets terrible nose bleeds otherwise. Its a royal pain to keep clean. Constantly washing it, changing filters & using the anti bacterial stuff to keep things at a minimum. It does help, but is work~ Cant help with the actual irrigation. The only one I know of that has to irrigate is Holly Catheryn. She actually was the first one I met that had to. She might have tips for you on her website tho! Good Luck!
