homeschooling

I am a 41 yo dx'd at 2. My husband and I are considering homeschooling our 9 year old through middle school. She does not have CF; but, we don't live in a great school district and her private school middle school has recently closed. I have a master's degree with teacher certification and I get along very well with her. I understand her learning needs. I also have a lot of out of town clinic appts. that make it difficult to work around with school. BTW, this will be for 6-8th grade only and she is very excited about the prospect.

I would LOVE to hear any positive or negative experiences with homeschooling if anyone cares to share<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> THANKS!

Skye,
HI! I have home schooled for about 19 years now....when it wasn't considered 'cool'. People used to look at me...say...'your doing what????'. At least now people know what you are talking about....
I have 8 children, the youngest, Zoe, is almost 5, has CF. I have found home schooling to be nothing but a blessing.
My kids are loved by everyone....their respect, honor, for other people is so different than public schooled. Considering you have a degree...you are steps ahead of me. I am just a high school graduate. I feel the time spent with my kids, one on one, is the most important factor. They explore, use their imaginations, etc... They can get their school done in less than 4 hours! Schools have so much wasted time. A good curriculum for you to consider, since you child was in public schools for a while, would be A Beka. They are very good.
Good luck on your decisions.....if you have any other questions for me...feel free...
Take care,

Jada, you just continue to amaze me. I didn;t know you homeschooled your children, and you say you have just high school. Your doing wonderful with your family and I admire your great respect for your parents. They are also to be commended for raising a wonderful daughter like you.
