honey wanting to get tested for CF gene

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> i have a question me and my honey have decided we want kids but the thing is he wants to make sure he doesn't have the cf gene ... i have cf .. but we dont know if he has the gene or not... what kind of testing would he need to get done to find out if hes a carrier or not...how expensive would it be???

My husband had it done last year. My CF doc wrote up a lab slip for him and he got blood drawn. The results took a few weeks, but it tested for 90% of the mutations of CF and cost about $300. My insurance company actually paid for it!

I believe my doctor said you could test for 95% of the mutations of CF for an extra $200. I was already pregnant at the time, so we didn't bother.

Hey Courtney,

In addition to Jeana's answer , i would have the full panel done through Ambry Genetics.. You can go on the Family section under Welcome Ambry Genetics, lots of info there..
