Hi! My son is 7 1/2 months and he wieghs 15 pounds and his hieght is 19 inches so he is very underwieght and he is not tall enough. He eats fine but do not gain any weight and he is not talking yet which really worries his doctor. He is going through tests to find out if he has cf but it's like everyone around is beating around the bush. From what I've told you do you think that he has cf and what are the definte signs of cf? HELP!!!

failure to thrive, meaning (in one aspect) he is not gaining weight but is eating. Does he have runny, greasy stools that happen all the time all day long. Has he had any infections, colds that occur all the time and take forever to go away? Those are some first more obvious signs. Push the doctors for the test, the sooner you know the sooner you can treat it (If that is what he has) and the healthier he will be.
There are some other posts with questions like yours going on at the adult and family sites. I would recommend you check those out as well.

Does he taste salty if you kiss his forehead? Years ago, this was one of the first signs of CF (because CF kids sweat more than their share of salt)

7 1/2 months and not talking.....definitely NOT unusual....most kids do not talk until 10, 12, 15, 18 months, etc. However, if he tastes like salt, have him tested NOW! This is a sign of CF...hope this helps!
