Ok, I'm 23 and never had to have IV anitbiotics yet (thank gawd!!!). However, about a month ago I got a sinus infection and was coughing up more stuff than usual, which is pretty normal for me when I'm having sinus problems. But its been a month now and I'm still not back to my normal self. I feel tired all the time and going up stairs makes me gasp for air. I'm still coughing more than normal but not as much as when I first had the infection. Usually when I have to go on oral antibiotics I'm full on SICK, sore throat, fever, the works. So I'm just wondering if you guys feel like this when it time for a tune up?

Usually for me thats a sign for needing a tune up... especially if it keeps getting worse. The best thing to do is to call your doc and ask him what to do. Sometimes its still 'fixable' with only oral medication. But definatly call your doc if you have been feeling this way for a month. It will only hurt you worse in the long run to keep putting it off calling.

Dear FP,
I just recently needed IV antibiotics. I have had increase cough, increased junk I'm coughing up, fatigue, and the obvious for me is coughing up blood.
I told my dr. I was not opposed to IV's however, I was not willing to stay in the hosp. (I swear that is the worst part for me anyhow). So he gave me my way.
I will be on 4 IV's a day for at least 2 weeks. It's not a cake walk but it sure beats coughing up blood and feeling like crap.
Good luck to you and hang in there!

I think you should definately get checked out! What probably is happening is your sinus infection has spread to a lung infection which happens to me all the time. I think you need a tune up from the sounds of it but only the sputum or exrays can tell for sure

Hi Frog princess. I know when I had my first and only this far IV. I was so afraid because I'v read that as soon as you have one you have to have them more often. But thats not the case. Some people go years without needing one. So try not to worry about getting an IV. Also you still can do things. When I had mine people didn't even know because my shirt covered it. You probly need to go in to get checked out. You definatly don't want to get worse if you could do something about it.

Having clean outs or tune ups will prevent scaring or further damage to your lungs. Once you have scaring you cant fix that. I go in for clean outs at least every other year whether I feel it necessary or not.
