How long after IVs can I try becoming pregnant

Hi everybody, I'm new here but thought this would be the right forum to post my burning question.

I'm currently doing IVs, Tobramycin and Merrem, to do my yearly clean-up (actually, the last one I had was 1 and 1/2 years ago so I was overdue). Before this, we were trying to get pregnant on and off for about six months and would like to pursue that goal again ASAP.

I know becoming pregnant while on IV's is not an option. But does anyone know if/ how long we'd have to wait to TTC after I'm done with IV's?

I was on IVs 3 times while pregnant, so I wouldn't say that you would have to wait any amount of time after IVs. At any rate, I would think the IV meds would be out of your system within 24 hours.

I think the key is stability. You want to get pregnant when your pfts are at their most stable, at their highest. Your personal best.
There are several ivs meds you can take during pregnancy, but there are many that are not safe at all during pregnancy, esp during the first trimester. Tobra is one of them-very dangerous for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
So I'd check that out first. If I were in your shoes I'd wait at least one cycle, as long as your pfts are staying high, then go for it.
Call your OB and see what their opinion is.

I was on IV Tobi twice while pregnant. I agree with Christian, however, that the first trimester is when many of the drugs are big no-nos. Although the drugs would be out of your system in 24 hours, I didn't necessarily think about the egg. Waiting one cycle would probably be best. I was actually on Cipro when I got pregnant, which is another drug not to take during pregnancy.
