How long to try without help

I'm not there yet, but how long should we try to get pregnant without success before seeing the doc about getting some medical intervention? I know for most people they won't even see you unless its been a year, but with CF women tending to have trouble in this department will they see us sooner? My cycle is still not even close to regulated and it has been 4 months off birth control. I gave up charting for now since I didn't have a BBT thermometer and will try again when (IF) I ever get my period again.

If your cycles are irregular see yuor Dr about that. Regulating your cycles would be a first step in TTC. As for getting true help getting pregnant you will most likely need to try for a full year. When I went to my OB for TTC help, she asked if we had been trying for a year. When I said yes she said she wanted me to chart and use OPK for a few months......I had already been doing that so we started infertility testing.. Had I not been charting and using OPK I would have needed to do that for a few months before she would have ordered the tests.

I remember charting the start of my cycle each month. We had been charting my cycle for years because of the type of birth control we use. ( Natural Method) It only took me about 3 months, but my cycles are regular. That is the first step to it. Then, you can focus on the best day(s) to concieve. Relaxing and staying well hydrated and being in good health are key. I have read that having to much Viamin C can hinder fertility. Just thought I would throw that in there and that having healthy levels of iron and folic acid make you more likely to concieve. But at six months, maybe reavaluate what you are doing if you are not pregnant by then. ~good vibes~ I would not go to see a doctor until you have tried for a year, but that is just me.

I will give it one more cycle and if it still isn't close to regular I'll call the doc. My last period was July 7 and I STILL haven't gotten one this month. I think I am close though (PMS). Its frustrating that I still haven't had it yet!
