Well, I must say it went pretty well. I gained 4 pounds, now I weigh 122pd, yay, my pfts went up almost 10% they are 73%, 2months ago they were 65%, I feel they could be a little higher tho since I havent been on pulmozyme for 2 weeks now, due to stupid pharmacy, and I have been on hypertonic saline for a about 2months now, so I think that, had played a big part in raising the pfts also. I asked Mr. Doc about the Oregano Oil and I gave him 3 or 4 printed copies of info I found on the net from different sites and I also printed off Sean Davis's report about his doc appointment too, I gave all that to him and he said he would need to read through it and then let me know. I dont know if Im going to get a call from him after he reads it or if I have to wait until I see him again in 2months, most likely Ill have to ask again when I see him in 2months, tho I will be surprised if I get a phone call. My ox sat, thing was 99% also. That pretty much sums up my report from the doc, I am very pleased with it specialy the weight gain, I am back to where I was when i got married. I feel very comfortable with this weight, I call it my backup fat for when I get sick.

I have a question for the girls with cf on here, when you guys gain wieght (of course we all know it pretty much goes to your stomach) do you ever feel like your pregnant, like at the first stage of pregnancy? I feel that way sometimes, although Im not its just that I look at my tummy and for some wierd reason I think my tummy looks as though it could be pregnant. Weird thought I know, but I just thought Id ask and see if anyone else out there thought the same thing.

All of this sounds very familiar. My pft's are right around where yours are. My weight is 126. I think I look better at 116 but that extra 10 lbs. does wonders for my health. I know if I got really sick I can loose 8 lbs. in a week - scary. I've never struggled with keeping weight on. I'm on the OO. My ox sat is usually 98-99 and I understand the tummy thing. One reason for this is the older we get the worse our ab muscles are because of the distructive coughing we do. Unless of course, you do lots of situps. I am working on huff coughing. It's very hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Jennifer,
I don't have CF but my 2yr old daughter does and sometimes she looks like a pregnant toddler...so I completely understand where your coming from on that end. Congrats on having a good check up, I hope my little girl will be doing as good as you at your age.

When I gain weight it goes to the parts of my body that need it the most. My chest and butt and also my legs. My arms are getting some extra tone. On ocassion if I eat too much or something that does not agree with me, I feel pregnant for a few hours. I am beginning to think it is related to taking too many enzymes. when I lower the amount, my stomach feels better. Too much fiber can extend my stomach but I think that is normal for anyone. My stomach is never big throughout the day. AFter a big meal definitely yes. I try and eat little meals a million times per day.

I think that coughing builds up strong muscles for the stomach. I agree that huff coughing is the way to go.

Congratulations Jennifer on your good report. I admire that you consult with your doctor before trying anything new. Let us hope he agrees and that he thinks it is worth a try. I am impressed with doctors who are open-minded.

Do you workout? That will help your appetite and you might even gain more weight plus you will be building your muscles and wow.

I am still at 135 and i am 5'7'' almost 5'8'' so I am considered ok but another ten pounds I will be feeling like you. I know this one doctor at my hospital where I go. He is hilarious and everytime I would see him all he says is Eat Eat Eat in his german accent. He is so funny. I saw him recently and he said the same thing and I said I just gained so much weight. He says I look good but gain some more and I will look great. He is very thin himself. he really cares

Have a good day

You know what I want? I want our apple bodies to be "in". In case no one knows what I am talking about, an apple body is one with a round stomach and stick legs and arms, basically the CF body. The super skinny, hourglass, and pear bodies have been in so when is it our turn? Think about how nice that would be

Also, my doctor said that I had the strongest stomach muscles she had ever felt, probably from the coughing. Too bad you can't see them!

I do workout, mainly walk on the treadmill or the eliptical machine, but here soon I might start on the weights, I work out with my mother-in-law. My doctor has a British accent that I like, its pretty neat to listen to him talk although it is hard to understand him sometimes. I am 5 feet tall so I guess I would be considered over wieght but like I said Im very comfortable with the weight Iam at now.

For me it's very different. That's the one thing that is a plus with CF for me, I actually sport a 12 pack! I figured all CFers had either a 6 or 12'er from all the coughing. A while a go I had a friend ask me how I had such incredible stomach muscles and I said it must be from all the coughing. She was so jealous and said she wanted to start coughing more too!

I have very strong tummy muscles. I sometimes think that its from all the huffing and puffing and coughing I've done over the years. I too gain all my weight in my stomach area, hips, butt, and legs. My arms are usually stick thin. I hate it.
