How's Abby

Just realized we hadn't heard anything about Abby since the end of last week, so hope all is going well. Results back on enzyme levels? PKU test? Any new cute faces?

Let us know!

I have a call in to the clinic today. They ended up sending the enzyme test to a 3rd lab and they reassured me that we'd have an answer today. I called at 1:30 and left a message. Hopefully we'll get a call back today.

The PKU test was redone yesterday and we won't have an answer until the end of the week.

Otherwise, we are just struggling with a night owl. Lucy climbed out of her crib this morning so we converted her crib into a toddler bed after her nap. It has been an eventful few days!

I had my 2 week follow-up and I'm healing great. I'm just ready to get into a routine here at home with two girls and graduate school!

Thanks so much for asking!!! I'll post as soon as I find out something! I'm just ready to have some answers!!!

Here are a few newer pictures to enjoy of Abby. The hat is courtesy of her big sister who doesn't seem to understand that 90 degree weather doesn't necessitate a hat, but she wants them on Abby's head!!

Thanks for the pictures! She looks like she's doing great. I particularly liked the bottom one with Lucy (i'm guessing that's Lucy).

Three labs?!?!? Do they not know how to do the test?? That sounds crazy.

Hope you all keep getting more and more into the routine.

Geez! It's POOP!!! Don't they just check the fat content to see if she needs enzymes? When the dietician ordered one for DS, the doctor kinda laughed and said we already KNOW he's malabsorbing.

Bottom pic is Lucy giving her little sister a sweet smooch!

Lucy is struggling with allergies right now and it is hard to tell the difference sometimes between allergies and colds...I want Lucy to start getting used to not being all over Abby when she's sick. I know at 2 that's a huge thing to ask of a toddler!

Any suggestions to help keep big sister out of little sister's face?

Emily,
My daughters are 18 months apart, and big sister Kayla was all over little sister Hannah at first. When it's was all new. We did give Kayla her own baby and everything she would need when Hannah was born. I had it at the hospital and gave it to her with it's own baby carrier and diaper bag, and the day we brought Hannah home, Kayla brought home 'her' baby. Then at home when I took care of my 'baby' she took care of hers. It helped keep her busy and not always in Hannahs face.
And when she realized Hannah was STAYING and not just visiting, she didn't want that much to do with her It was really fun until this little person starting taking up too much of mommy's time and then she kind of did her own thing and wasn't always trying to kiss on her.
Hope it helps. And your baby is beautiful!! Congratulations to your family!

What a great idea Tammy, not that I'll ever need it because I'm done but that is really creative!

Tammy, thank you so much for the idea!!

Still haven't heard from the clinic in Atlanta. I left a message yesterday around 1:30...so hopefully today. I feel certain that things are ok. In my heart and based on my research, I'm just going to have believe that her enzyme test is going to come back fine. If she wasn't gaining weight and her poops weren't like her sister's when Lucy was a baby, I'd be totally freaking out now, but luckily I have enough to keep me busy here!

Thanks you all for your support and encouragement! We are so fortunate to have you all! Abby's telling me it is time to eat again. :)

Well, it actually wasn't my idea. My mom did the same thing (although I doubt they had toy baby carriers and stuff back them) when my little sister was born. I was two years old at the time she was born. But my mom was only 16 when I was born and 18 with my sister, so I am actually surprised that she was that creative being such a young mom
