hypersal

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering how long 4ml of hypersal should take? It's taking us about 18min with a pari machine and lc sprint neb. Is this too long? My son's CF doc said it should take around 10 min. I've replaced the machine and nebs and doesn't seem to make a difference. Thanks for your help.

close to 17-20min. We currently use a invacare mobilaire 50psi compressor set to 30psi. I'm sure you could speed it up by cranking up the pressure a bit.

This may sound bad, but I generally take the Dr's time estimates with a grain of salt, I think the only one I've ever been given that was correct was TOBI, and that's because when she started it, she was in a trial and 20 min was the prescribed time! I think the RTs and other parents/patients are the best sources of info on things like that. Our Coor. will actually tell you when you call with a neb/compressor/vest problem that she's going to check with the RT and let you know. Don't get me wrong, I love the Drs too, but they generally aren't involved with giving nebs/treatments, just prescribing them <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Our doctor says the same thing about DS' albuterol/atrovent.

Time sounds about right -- same size as a vial of tobi. I'd be more concerned if it was 45-50 minutes, which was what led us to believe our original compressor was faulty.

Thank you everyone for your responses. 18 min isn't bad but I started to think oh great we can get this one down to 10! What a time saver so you start to get your hopes up. I'll jump on here next time.
