I have tried several times to get my girl's insurance to pay for Hypertonic Saline but to no avail. I have also had two different pharmacies try but they couldn't get anywhere either. I finally took the girls off it because I couldn't afford to pay for it on top of all the other copays.
We just moved and just had our first appointment at the Ft. Worth clinic. At that visit the doctor said he would really like to get the girls back on Hypertonic Saline, especially Kacie as it may benefit her extreme sinus problems. I explained the situation and the nurse said she had a pharmacy that they work with who was really good at helping out with things like that.
The next day the pharmacy called me and said she was shipping the Hypertonic Saline and that I just need to pay my copay. She said the insurance was paying for the rest. I was floored. I was very impressed with them. It really goes to show what a pharmacy can do if they really want to work for you. I just wanted to share this if there are any of you who are taking HS and can't get it covered. Maybe they can help you. I went to their website and copied it here for you:

I noticed on their website that they also deal with several other CF specific meds, such as Pulmozyme, as well as diabetic supplies. I have never dealt with them before this so I really don't know if they are national or only here in Texas...It probably won't matter unless you have Medicaid or another state insurance... but it's worth a shot. Just wanted to share. It was a big relief for me.
