Hi my son who will be a year old is a carrier for CF as well as me and his father. I just want to know is there anyway i can find out if we were to have any other children what there odds were of having it I don't really want to take the chance of having another one not knowing because wouldn't want to go through that or put a child through that.Text

i hear it is 1 in 4, you probly could get a fetus dna tested at a stage and if it does have cf get it aborted. this i have heard

With both you and your husband being carriers you have the following chances: (From Growing older with CF-a handbook for adults)

1. 25% chance unaffected (not a carrier at all and no CF)
2. 50% chance unaffected carrier (child is a carrier but no CF)
3. 25% chance you child will have CF

You can use a method called Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) in conjunction with In-Vetro/ICSI. Depending on what state you are in, and what kind of insurance you and your husband have- this could be a VERY expensive procedure. But, if you want another child and don't want to risk CF and have the means or insurance coverage to pay for this I would highly recommend it.
