Now I enjoy a good joke, but when it is joking about children with CF to score political points ( this is about Gordon Brown ) then I think A line has been crossed, this really made me so mad, yet others on the brit site found it funny. What are your thoughts on this?

Okay, so here's me:

I found it funny. I wasn't at all offended. Yes, it's me. And no, I don't follow PC stuff, and I don't get easily offended when people make "sick jokes."

Anyone who *does* get offended at sick jokes... that's their right. But think about this when considering the video...

The guy in it isn't making fun of sick kids. He made a few "sick" comments (which I will absolutely admit to laughing at), but he wasn't making fun of the kids themselves. What he WAS making fun of was the adults involved. The adults that use the kids as "political pawns." That their election was coming down to a CFer vs. a Down's kid. Which I might add, is worth making fun of. Who will run our country depends on which kid you feel worse for....? What the hell...? If you want to be mad at that, be mad at that. I don't care enough, myself. But again, I myself found it funny. Kind of like when you laugh at something utterly pathetic. It's sooo disgusting, and you want to be mad at it, but it's soooo pitiful, you just laugh.

The guy in the video isn't actually doing it. He's not making fun of sick kids or using them as "pawns," he's simply pointing out that other people ARE doing that. And he's making a useful and truthful observation.

Basically... if the jokes offend you, be mad at the people doing it, not the kid who points out that it's f***ed up. *shrug*

You Know you are quite right, if it was a different subject then yes, I admit that I would more than likely let go a little hee hee, I guess it is because it is closer to home that I have a problem with it, such a hypocrit I am LOL. From the boards in the UK, it appears to be the parents that find it more upsetting than PWCF, maybe thats just the phycie (sp) lol, of CFers.

I found it offensive. Because I did think he was making light of his kid being sick. I get that he was also trying to point out that people are using the situation for political maneuvering. However, some things you just can't say. Like as a white person in America etc. there are some things I'm not allowed to say about other groups whether they're true or not or what my motives in saying them are. It's just in pour taste. And I think making light of someone's kid being diagnosed with a disease is one of those things. And I get he's a polotician in the public arena up for public consumption...but his kid is not. I get what he was trying to do...but I think he missed his mark or at least when at it so A&$ backwards in an attempt to be smart/funny people will not be receptive to his larger point.

I promised myself when I watched the video I would have an open mind about it.

I LOVE watching Carlos Mencia, and he talks crap about every religion, race, illness, etc and I find him quite funny.

I just did not think this video was funny at all! It had nothing to do with it "being about CF" it just was not funny.

I didn't find it funny but I was not offended. I figure there's a place for his humor and I'm sure someone found it funny so it did it's job. I think there's usually a place for making light of illnesses, crises, etc at one time or another, b/c it can take the sting out of it sometimes. It's easy to do when that person is not in the same scenario. Just a different perspective.

I know that I am a bit slow with regards to certain humour, but I dont get any of this. Granted the british accent (no offense anyone) is hard for her to distinguish when listening to the true hard brits, but watching & listening I just didnt get it. SO I dont know if I am offended or irritated!
