It depends on a lot. I think mutations do have a lot to do with it, yes. But I have nothing to show you on hand that proves that.
But no, not all CFers taste salty. I happen to. But my sweat test results were sky-high. Below 40 is negative for CF. 40-60 is borderline. Above 60 is positive.
My sweat test result was 106. Hah. So it only makes sense that I personally taste salty. I actually have to clean out my video game controllers when I'm done playing a game because my sweat gets into the cracks and dries, and leaves a fine salt behind.

I think that just as Emily said it depends. As you can have a positive screening on DNA testing but you can still have a very low sweat test number.
Like Emily mine was very high and I do taste salty. Mine was early 100 too, 103 I believe. This was about 10 years back when they did it again for some study or something. I don't know what it was with my birth. But I can imagine it would already have been very high and I tasted very salty too.
When my sister was born (even though they did amnio testing and it was negative) one of the first things my dad did was lick her little arm.
