I have been posting alot and im sorry if i sometimes dont make sense..i do this on my iphone :) ..i had rapid response called in my room last night

So an update i did end up having a blood patch placed and a new chest tube thanks to my transplant team!..my cf doctor told me there was nothing they could do for me to help my lung..and i just knew that wasnt true after all the responses i was recieving on here and im so thankful!..i was persistant and kept saying i want transplant as a last resort because nothing else we tried worked..and at first even the transplansplant team thought i was crazy..but then something clicked with them..all of a sudden one morning my surgeon came and saw me an said they had a meeting last night and wanted to do more for me since it was a coinscidence (sp)? That this all happend when i was deprived my pulmozyme for two weeks!..so this was done day before yesterday and i had the best sleep ever my heart rate was in the 80's something i havent seen in along time and my oxygen had to be turned down to 1litre..and i was feeling great...

Then the next day so yesterday all day was great late afternoon came an all of a sudden i started to have upset stomach..i then ate some dinner and had been downing alot of water because i knew i was dehydrated i drank pitchers of water like 6 lol ..well after i ate i went to brush my teeth then all of a sudden i didnt feel right something came over me..i then stopped and felt i should sit but i was almost done so thought id just finish up real quick..i then all of a sudden was brought to my knees i could not breathe!..my heart rate was pounding through my chest!..i then sat on my bed and hit the call button and said hurry domething is wrong they came in and i told them my heart rate felt high..they put my finger on the vital thing and it was 145..then not even a second it jumped up to 150!..then 157 then 160..i was like couldnt believe what i was seeing iv never seen this...they then called rapid response they all came running i just laid back they stuck everything on me did chest xray and ekg everything was normal...

They then rushed me down to ct scan to do my heart and chest thought i had blood clots..then came back that was normal..i then after coming back strted getting tummy pains..they then thought well maybe i have an infection in my blood or pancreatitis..did all the bloodwork and it came back normal?..so what there thinking now is i was just dehydrated and i have been using a lidocane patch on my neck that just started yesterday..so thinking maybe i had an interaction with that?..they have sent off a stool sample and im on a probiotic and fluids..i tell ya what it has been a crazy 3weeks for me starting with the colapsed lung to the rapid response in here last night..im ready to be better!!! Im just very happy and blessed my lungs are doing great! ...but for anyone who has had the rapid heart rate incident please let me know..i never knew stomach problems could cause heart rates to sky rocket!

Scary when that happens....every time I am sick, my heart does that as well, but I also have a twitchy heart as they say, SVT or supraventricular tachycardia. I am on chronic medication to keep my heart rate normal. Even then, I get breakthrough tachycardias especially if I am really sick. I am on monitors whenever I am in the hospital, so they know when this is happening immediately and push medications through my IV to slow things down. This happens so often, that my docs have a standing order for IV beta blockers so that I don't have to wait for a doctor to see me, get an order written and then get treated. There was one time when I had to wait for a doctor to see me, he took a hour to do so, meanwhile my heart is flying at 170+....I wasn't thrilled, neither was my nurse. That never happened again after I complained loudly to my regular doc..
It is an uncomfortable feeling, I sympathize with you. I usually feel a "tickle" in my throat before my heart takes off....and when it is happening, I feel terrible. I actually get chest pain and a sinking feeling in my stomach until the arrhythmia breaks. I also feel like I have to pee, my cardiologist says that this happens because of where the arrhythmia is originating from in my heart. It stimulates a hormone to be secreted that acts like a diuretic, hence the need to pee.
I hope that this is a one time event for you, dehydration can certainly make your heart rate go up, being sick doesn't help and it sure sounds like you are going through quite a bit of stress.
I also hope that the patch does it's job and that chest tube can come out soon! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
