I was discharged from the hospital 3 weeks ago after a 3 week stay on IV abx. I had a lung function of 62% and was doing good. 2 weeks later I contracted a virus and it wiped me out. I ended up in the ICU on a bi-pap machine for 3 days. I am looking to be out of the hospital monday, but I still feel "weak". My lung function is 30% and I feel so weak in my lungs.

Anyone else been on bipap? Did you feel this way? How long till you were "back to norm?"

Gosh, I hope you get to feeling better soon. That's rough! I spent 4 days in ICU after a bad reaction to Zosyn, and they say that for every day you spend in ICU, you need a week of recovery. I wouldn't rush it though, take it easy and try to build your strength back up by walking first, then maybe some squats for your legs. I've not used a bi-pap machine before, but my lung function is really bad (17%), so I'm not sure if bi-pap is supposed to give you immediately relief with breathing. Sorry I can't help more.

I have been on Bi Pap and I currently have a Bi Pap machine that I am not using at home.... Bi Pap was a life safer to me. It helped my muscles relax so I could breath and get the rest I needed.

I am sorry you are so wiped out..I hope you feel better soon.
