IF (and only IF) I moved to the States

Last night, the wife and I actually discussed our future and my job search.

Fortunately, she doesn't want to live in her dad's house forever, and I really didn't want to either, unless commuting to work was so much simpler.

So, the question I'm throwing into the forum is where the best State is for work, climate and all those perks that makes the "American Dream"?

I am strongly hoping (and praying) for a job as a civilian for a US military position...hopefully within Japan, but have also considered the States.

One job is offered in Hawaii. The wife seemed a bit interested in the idea of Hawaii, there are still a lot of Japanese speaking areas there and maybe she could even find a part-time job as well.

The wife actually wants to live in a place that would be similar to the summers and winters of Osaka. Not below freezing, but not any hot and muggier in the summer than Osaka.

She didn't like the idea of going to Okinawa--there are too many typhoons and its very hot and humid for her liking.

Even though there are no CF centers (as of yet?), I hoped with Hawaii, I would at least expect to come across docs who are familiar with CF.

So, any ideas on this would be helpfull in considering other options, since it seems I have been given the chance, again.

Well then, NY is out! lol Our winters to go below freezing and we also get a lot of snow. There is one girl who I have talked to in the past who has CF and lives in Hawaii. I don't know who she sees for her doctor though. I could try to find out for you if you want me to.

Good luck with your job search!

I vote for Colorado. Great dry air to breathe and an awesome CF Center at National Jewish. Plus, amazing views!

Thanks for the replies, so far.

Transplantmommy, I'll ask you when its for sure that I'll be going to Hawaii...just to know that its possible is good to know.

Imattaway, My family lives in CO, and may be relocating. The wife had been there before with me, and she didn't like the thin air...so, despite how beautiful CO is, its out of the question...and I was looking forward to Jewish National. However, when my sister was giving me a referral there, I had no insurance and so had a "falling out" with going there for a visit about 4 years ago.
