I am 37 years old, I am 5' 3" & currently weigh 105 pounds. I think the hardest part of being an adult is having to take care of my health & all my other responsibilities like my husband, daughter, house etc. When I was a kid I basically just had my health & school work. Mom/Dad took care of food shopping, cleaning, cooking etc. Its hard to balance the basic activities especially if you work or go to college.

aw, u don't sound rude, sweetie.
Sorry this has been a tough year for you. We all have the scars from years of needles and IV's too. Maybe we could all get together and see who has the most, and that person gets a prize! Just kidding.

My advice to you, which probably sounds boring, is try very hard to do all your therapies and take your medicine. Also, I don't know if you take enzymes, but when I was little I always forgot my enzymes when I ate. Sometimes, I even just wouldn't take them. Now, I have some stomch trouble because of that. So really try to remember your enzymes.

Also, it would be good for you to get involved in some type of sport or outdoor activity that you like. That will keep your lungs clean and your body moving.

I think the hardest part of being an adult with CF is that when you have a job, and you get sick, you miss so much work. And your boss doesn't like it. And, now that I am 23 and married, I am thinking about having some kids. That will be very hard too, taking care of them and my health. Also when I'm in the hospital I miss my house, and my dogs and my bed, but you know how that feels!!

You are very young, and you have a long, fun life ahead of you!

I'm 24, 5'6 and weigh 117. The hardest part for me, is reassuring everyone that I am not a china doll, worrying about whehter I can have kids or not, and worrying about leaving people behind. Normal stuff for a CFer I guess you could say.

christian - believe it or not, but I'm trying to put weight on right now. My goal in the next 2-3 months is to weigh 132. I look and feel better when I'm at a heavier weight. I hate being skinny. I hate seeing my collar bone, or my hip bones or spine.

I'm 26, 5'1 and 98lbs. I was on prednisone a lot as a kid and while I know they say there are side effects, and i've experienced a few, it was worth it for me, I would take it again if I was in that situation again. i have a zillion needle scars as I'm sure most of us do. i've had surgeries that have left some really gruesome scars, including one that looks like a lightning bolt over my butt, and as I'm a girl that one took a little getting used to, it's hard as an adult, it's really no picnic as a kid. best thing I can reccommend is start preparing to take charge of your own health your own destiny. And prepare your self to live. Do good in school because you will probably be around for college and lucky you a JOB then there will be kids and a mortgage, yick, now that's some scary stuff, you better try to enjoy being a kid while you can, and keep your sense of humor handy, you're gonna need it!

Try not to worry yourself. BE who you are and take some chances but always put your health first. I felt that I was more of an adult at a young age and as an adult I feel like a kid again.

Im 40...(going to be 41 next week) 5'4, 122 lbs. Life with cf is a challenge no matter what age. Just stay active, and try your best not to get lazy. I have scars from iv's, had one sinus surgery ,and 2 pulmonary embolizations. Scary as they were, they all did their part to keep me here. Like i said keep active , its the best thing you can do for your lungs. Do your treatments and try not to miss any too much. I know we all like to take a break once in a while and skip the vest or skip doing pulmozyme or whatever you should be doing , and thats fine only once in a blue moon , but try not to skip too often. Stay well
