For those of you who don't follow my blog. I got the word late yesterday that I am officially listed for transplant at University of Pennsylvania. I'm top of the list for my blood type AB+ my LAS is 38. I know my LAS is low compared to others, but we don't know how long the wait time will be because of the rarity of blood type.

Next up is to multilist at Columbia

Cheers,
Jim

Congrats!!! Columbia is very aggressive at getting lungs. I got 4 cracks within 3 weeks. Good luck! You can now look at your cell phone in a whole new way <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Congratulations on getting listed!

I am not familiar with how it works when you have a combination blood type like yours. Will you have to wait for an actual AB person or can you go with either A or B? I know that the positives and negatives on the blood type doesn't really matter so I wasn't sure and don't recall seeing an AB on UNOS, but then again I never looked at anything other than Anna's. Just curious.

My records were sent to Whitley at Columbia, I called to verify and they said someone would review them and send me a document via fedex. Seems odd, but I guess that is how they do it?

AB is a universal reciever, so I can get lungs from any of the blood types (A, B, O or AB), but UNOS lists by blood type. So in order for me to get organs of another type the people listed in those types get first crack at them.
