Hello to all.
First of all everything is going very good. But she just started to have a bowel movement after each feeding. I called her dr. She told me to move up to a whole capsule creon5. We just moved up to 3/4 of a capsule just two weeks ago. This seems really fast. I was wondering about others of you that may have gone through this or might be going through this with an infant. Is this fast to be moving up? She is 6months and just reached 12lbs 6oz, well that was two weeks ago. This Friday we go to her ped. for a healthy checkup/shots. I cant wait to see how much she weights. And for them to see her. They have not seen her in about 2 months, right after dx. They are going to be thrilled on how much weight she has gained. Are having more bowel movements the main way to know that you need to increase or are the any other tell tell signs I should look for? I hope all are well. Thank you

My son curretly is taking 2 capsul of Creon5 with every feed. We went up pretty quick due to the increasing amount he was eating, at three weeks of age he was downing 6 ozs like a champ! I am now wondering myself if we need to up his Creon as he is now drinking about 10-12 oz a feed (4-5 X daily) and 1 whole jar of baby food three times a day along with the 10-12 oz of formula. Usually the tell tell signs for us is an increase in bowel movements, BM become more oily, increase in gas (belly ache) and even a rash (not an ordinary diaper rash) but a rash that will NOT go away untill we are giving him the correct amount needed. Before we increase I usually email his nutritionist and see what she thinks about the increase-going to do that now as a matter of fact.

The whole trying to fugure out a proper amount of enzymes gives me a headache sometimes and if this boy keeps eating like he does, I'm not sure how I'm going to afford my future grocery bill, LOL!

My son is 13 months and he takes 4 creon 5 with every bottle. We have always struggled with weight. I would say that a bowel movment with every feed is a reason to call and you did. If they say up it then just watch for a rash on hes butt to many enzymes leave a rash the doc told me.

My son is two months old, his doc just increased his creon 5 to two caps with every meal because he is eating more and weighs more.

Benjamin takes 3 capsules of creon 5 per feeding. (He's 7 months on Nov. 4th) Even with 3 enzymes he still has grease and oil in his stools at times. His GI doctor said he always would regardless of enzyme dose. When he was first diagnosed at two weeks, he started with 1 creon 5 then quickly went to two creon 5 and now just started three per his last visit to the CF clinic. Benjamin has never had a hard time with eating, as matter of fact we have a hard time filling him up. At about 1 month old we started adding rice cereal to his formula to ease his hunger. During good weeks he probably has a BM two-three times a day. When it is getting close to increasing his enzymes he has about 6 BMS a day. (The reason they increased his enzymes the last time is because he wasn't gaining weight even though he eats non- stop.) I always notice that when Ben needs more enzymes he gets hungry real quick. Normally he will go about 3.5 to 4 hours between feedings. When he starts to want to eat every hour and a half, I e-mail the dietician about enzymes or call the clinic. I hope this helps, sorry I ramble!
