hi, has anyone used inhaled cephtazadime. i am just about to start using it and was wondering what if any peoples reactions were to it. i do not tolerate tobi very well, and as usual am concerned about all inhaled meds because of that, but i have cepacia and inhaled cephtaz is often good for it.

any replies would be great, thanks!

Hey Caitlin
I used it a few years ago. It did seem to work well , but i always had to use my inhaler right before i did it since it made me feel tight in the chest. It also seemed to add to my hemoptysis problems. Its hard to know if the medicine contributed to the bleeding problem or not, but anything inhaled can be an irritant so we decided to stop using it. You may not have any problems at all with it, especially if you aren't prone to bleeds. It is effective for b.cepacia so give it a try and let me know how it works for you. Take care !

thanks Diane. yes I have had some hemoptysis problems in the past too, like I had told you, but only really before or during infection and not that badly (knock on wood). I did Tobi in August and did not tolerate it at ALL. it was dissapointing but I got sooo hoarse and completely lost my voice to the point where it made itdifficult to cough anything up. the cephtaz is disgusting because it smells and tastes SO bad, but i hope it has some positive effects.
