This is a call for help and advice. I am a 25 year-old CF patient, I am losing my cobra health coverage in May and of course I need health insurance. Does anyone have advice for me. I live in NH with my girlfriend. Luckily, I have never been hospitilized for lung involvment and can function fully. So I don't think I'm a canidate for Medicare/Medicade. My name is Andre Cuda and my email address is drecuda@yahoo.com. Thanks for any help

You don't have to be hospitalized to be a candidate for medicaid. As far as medicare goes, you are entitled to medicare benefits after you have been on social security disability after 24 months. You really should look into seeing if you qualify for medicaid in your state, as every state runs their program a bit differently. My husband hasn't been hospitalized since he was 8 or 9, but he qualified for medicaid in Washington-but he doesn't qualify in CA because of my income (even though it was the same in WA as it is here in CA). It is worth looking into.

In the state of Nebraska there is a program called Chips that is a special insurance program for people that have lots of medical needs..like people that are diabetic or have CF....your state may have a program like that This one is offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska. I know there are alot of states that have BCBS. I would check with them if they are in your state.
