Just wondering if anyone knows of a health insurance co. that does not require appeals for cf related claims (ie vest, meds, etc).

Appeals? Do you mean prior authorizations? Given the expense of most CF related things, especially the vest (and some medication) almost all require a preauthorization as far as I know.

No, I can understand pre-authorization. The problem is that the ins. co. at first said that the vest is not medically required for cf so we had to write them an appeal letter. Then they thought that $13,000. was overcharged by the vest company so we had to write another letter of appeal. We finally got the vest apporved at the full amount but what a pain. Thanks for your reply.

I know a few people look down on them but Kaiser doesn't require appeals. Since they own thier own Hospitals and hire thier own doctors, the way it was set up was that what the doctors have the first and last say. If a doctors prescribes a vest you get a vest. I asked my doctor for one, they sized me up and I had it within the week.
