i asked my doc about intal--i was on it as a child and dr. warwick mentioned it in his letter to amy as something he uses a lot. my doc said he has one patient on it and that it isn't really used that much in our clinic. he also told me that intal is more of an asthma medicine that helps with asthma/allergy stuff. this is what i suspect is going on with me! surely there must be other cfers with this issue. have any of you tried intal?

yup, i've been on it since childhood. i stopped using it cuz my doc said i probably didn't need it an wham! lungs went downhill.

i was surprised to hear of warwick mentioning it myself because i haven't heard of many CFers on it.

but it works great for me and i'll continue to stay on it....

I'm on Intal and don't have asthma. Intal works pretty good as an anti-inflammatory med...better than inhaled steroids

I've been off and on it for years. I love it. Its a really mild drug, it works great for me and I can tell a big difference those times that it was stopped

Prussian,

Intal is a mast cell stabilizer, what does that mean??? Basically....histamine is housed in the mast cell. The release of histamines means wheezing, hacking and coughing. Intal strengthens the mast cell so it dosen't let histamine out as easily. The one thing about Intal is she be discontinued when you are actively wheezing because it is a mild irritant. Drugs that have similar properties are Tilade and Serevent(Serevent is also a bronchodilator so it is twice as good)

hope this helps...
