Intraconazole-fungal medication

Hi

Just recently out of hospital after two weeks. I was given 400mg of Intraconazole and three days of Intravenous high dosage of Steroids.
I felt great in hospital and my FEV1'S went back up to 76% from 61% and all going until the last three days before I got out from hospital and I have notice my chest is sore and tightness, fatigue.
I have been recording my peak flow and it has dropped from 430 to 400-380.

Has anyone experience this when on the above mention Medication? Does it stop after a while?

I am seeing my doctor today because of it and I don't want him to take me off it, but I don't want to be short of breath and not able to do what I normally do with exercising etc.
I have to take it for six weeks and have completed three weeks.
Should I stay with it for another three weeks?

Any advice I would apprecaite.

Hi hon I am sorry to hear you are doing poorly, I wonder about you often.

Do you have acid reflux? It can affect the effectiveness of itraconazole as can taking acid reflux medications or anything that alters stomach pH. Voriconazole is recommended if you do. This is the information I got just two days ago from Dr. Moss @ Standford about my case.

Also the high dose steroids would leave your lungs feeling good as it is quick acting and I *think* the itraconazole will take a bit longer to start working so your symptoms may be from the steroids wearing off.

One additional thing to note is that you may be having die-off effects from candida as given yoru level of antibiotic and steroid use you probably have chronic colinization of that in your digestional track. My guess is that you havent been on itraconazole long enough for that to be it but perhaps. I would highly recommend reading this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...0938631&pf_rd_i=507846

I am currently on itraconazole i have been on it for about 6 weeks. At first i had kind of the same symptoms. it was hard to breathe and kind of tight but it got much better and i feel like i dont cough as much and breathe alot better. So hang in there it will get better. It just takes awhile for it to start killing all the fungus. I plan on being on it for awhile especially if its helping.

Good Luck!

Hi TERI
I was delighted to hear from u and that you had the same symptons like I do.
I am so tired and cannot do a thing. Ok, I can get out of bed some mornings and if I do I make my breakfast have a shower was my hair and blow dry it I'm too tried for the rest of the day.
I can't exercise at all, but I try and walk around the house for 15mins a day. I am sticking with the tablets but I still have the wheeze and tightness.
I am now on them four weeks and will wait patiently for symptoms to subside. When u stopped the tablets did u feel great and how long?

You mention that u are going to stay on the tablets longer is your Doctor recommending this? How long can u stay on it? I am hoping that things will get better for me?

Did u put on weight?

Thanks for your help.
Paulina.
