Any of you Iowan Cf parents...who do your children see if they go to the U of I. Our doctor there is leaving and we are looking for another one to see him for his 3 month appointments at the CF clinic. We really liked Abuhassen (not sure I spelled that right). Cole really needs someone who is going to entertain him as well as check him out. I need someone who isn't going to treat me like I ask too many questions or don't know my child

Im not sure where in Iowa you live, and Im not sure about any of the doctors in Iowa. But most of us will travel for great care. Im sure there are people on here who do know of some pedi pulmonologists in Iowa.
But I got to UNMC in Omaha. I've been going there since I was 15. They are a GREAT group of physicians and they all work very well together. They really help you learn what you need to know and arent afraid of questions. I will ramble on with them about anything and I mean anything that might be bothering me, from a fungus they cultured to my ex-boyfriend. They are definitely there for you when you need something.
I always see Dr. Sammut and Dr. Columbo, sometimes Dr. Thomas. They are all amazing though! They took terrific care of me when I was going through my hard times and was in and out of the hospital, and now after my lung tx, im back here in omaha...they are the ONLY reason I came back.

I'm not sure how it works in other places, but at Blank in Des Moines, we see many different doctors and specialists at clinic as well as the pulmonologist. They also have a person that comes around to keep the kids entertained and make sure they have a descent time (we have not needed this yet as Parker just turned a year).

I really like Dr. Flores and Dr. Sheets (the pulmonologists). Clinic usually lasts about 3 hours and we see either pulm doctor, the gastroenterologist, dietician, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, social worker, and usually students and other people helping all the docs.

Like the PP, I'm not sure where you live, but for the most part, I do like Blank. Is there no doctor replacing the one that you see at U of I?

Kaylee has the same doctors as Parker, and she loves them! I don't know anything about the clinic in Iowa City. Do you live in CR? That is my hometown--untill we moved to Marion.
