My daughter and mom went to a CF walk-a-thon this morning , but i did not go b/c i didn't want to spread my Cepacia and MRSA to other cfer's. My daughter said that there were 5 cf children there. And they could also have a bug that i didn't want. If there are any worse ones than Cepacia. The doc says that my lungs seem to be handling the Cepacia pretty well. So if i get other bugs that might not be the case. There are still some parents and adults that don't know how easily the bugs can spread . I honestly didn't know that it was so easy till I got on here. The doctors didn't tell me anything. Just wondering how other people feel about this .

i know the brochures for the cf walk do state that anyone with b.cepacia shouldnt attend the walks...i have also wondered the same thing about other bugs...i keep my daughter away from other cf'ers and make sure that my family knows not to be shaking hands, etc with others and then touching her without using hand sanitizer. (we use alot of that on cf walk day)...i always take a mask and if anyone starts coughing, i mask her up and move away or leave. rather be safe than sorry!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

We go, but DS stays with our group, usually in his jogging stroller. We use lots of hand sanitizer. No playing on the playground with the other kids. We take him later to one near our house. Don't eat any food that isn't individually wrapped -- so we avoid the boxes of donuts, cookies and dessert breads, as well as the pizza. Even though it's passed out by helpers, there's always the chance that someone might be helping themselves. I bring along juice boxes, water and snacks for ds. Any my inlaws always have an open house with food afterwards for our walk team at their house.

Everything is outdoors, so we're not inside with a bunch of people.
