Well, I am going this week to the fertility clinic. I am sooo nervous/excited. I was wondering what are the chances of getting multiples if you do an IUI. I know clomid etc... increases the chances, but I was wondering if you could do it without drugs? Then, would your chances of multiples be equal to that of having a baby the old fashioned way?
I was also wondering about IVF. I know your chances skyrocket by doing that. But, if you ask them, will they only implant one egg? I know the chances of it 'taking' get lower if you do that. But, I was thinking that I would rather pay for several rounds of IVF, than risk multiples and pay for a 4-6 week NICU stay..... I know our NICU runs about 40K-50K per day per baby. Has anybody else just asked for one egg? Am I being unreasonable? I just know that it will be hard enough for me to go to term with one (at least I guess it will be), and with more than one I will be even less likely. I just don't want anything to happen to the baby/(ies) when I do get pregnant.
Either way, we are saving every nickel and dime just to do this once.
I know the doc. will know what to do. However, he is not a cf doc, and I want to be as well versed as possible. I am just flipping out about multiples. I don't know why???? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
Oh, I will start blogging these, so not everybody has to read a bunch of 'trying to get preggo' posts. Thanks for listening....
