so i was recently in the hospital and everytime im in i always have the same problems.
IVs.
its hard to get a vein and when they do sometimes they just burst and i also have tough skin.
anyone else have this problem?
its so hard to find veins as it is and when they do they dont last long.
is there anything i could do to make my skin less tough?
i dont know im just frustrated and tired of getting poked!

You are still getting the standard, traditional perephreal iv's?

If that is true its amazing because the meds we use are quite harsh & there are easier methods. Most of us who dont have ports get picc lines to avoid going through numerous iv's & leaving the veins for other things.

My son got a port because of all his problems with a PICC. He doesn't like the idea of having it, but it does save time and trouble with IVs.

I'm the same way. And I have horrible veins. It's really challenging to have iv's put in and to get blood drawn. Even placing piccs in radiology is hard. I've been told that placing a picc in me is a job for an expert.
