Joint (Knee) Pain

I have written about this before but I guess I am looking for someone that has a different answer. My daughter is almost 4 yrs old and for the past 2 years complains regularly of knee pain. I find it is worse when she is tired but tonight she cannot sleep from it. She woke up a couple of times and I have finally given her something for the pain so she can sleep. Usually I can just rub cream on it and she says it makes it feel better. We call it magic cream that "the dr. told us to use". Then other nights it is so bad that she can't sleep and screams in pain. Has anyone else had this problem with young kids? Does anyone have and tricks to help ease the pain. Our CF team says it is common but not enough is known about it. Her pediatrician looked at it as well and said there are no signs of arthritis. Thanks,Heather (mom to Ashley)

Heather,Have the doctors ever said anything about growing pains? I know it sounds silly, but when my husband was little, he had absolutely HORRIBLE growing pains! He described it like you did. Don't know if that's what it is or not, just offering my experiences!!!!

I'm 15, but from the age of 10 on, I've had excruitiating joint pain, especially at night, on and off. It's most prevalent in my hips and knees. I asked my doctor, and they said it can have to do with CF, especially when the CF is flaring up, so to speak. It also can be a reaction to certain antibiotics. As for tricks to help it, I find keeping the area very warm (as in layers of pajama bottoms) helps alleviate the pain. I also take a warm bath right before I go to bed and then quickly change into pajamas (agian I think this has to do with the keeping the area warm concept). I don't remember having joint pain when I was younger, but it is certainly not fun at any age!
