Joint Pain

I've been having terrible pain in my wrists and ankles the past few days. I haven't stopped or started any new meds and I've never had this problem. I can take Ibuprofen and it will ease up, but I'm getting a little worried. My fingers, knees and thighs are starting to hurt. Any ideas what is causing this?

i get alot of joint pain when i have a chest infection. its terrible when i get it,because i am unable to walk or even bath myself! for my pain i am given a high dose of steroid, but of course it is dangerous at such high doses after a period of time, so im given a fantastic tablet called chloroquine. im not sure exactly what it is but i no it works! i no it is sometimes used for the prevention of maleria.

Ask your doctor about a condition called "hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy." It is an inflamation of the bones, arms, and legs and is associated with chronic lung conditions. Your doctor may give you an x-ray to see if there is any new bone formations, which is an indicator of this condition.

It may also be arthritis; but from what I understand the above condition is more likely and is often mistaken for arthritis.

Edit I should say, is often mistaken for rheumatoid arthritis. There is another kind of arthritis, episodic arthritis, which can also occur. It is often accompanied by a rash and fever and its occurances do not seem to coincide with changes in lung function, unlike hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy.

I get severe joint pain every time i get a chest infection with a fever. The only thing that helps is steroids and pain medication. It last for about two days after I start the steroids. I hope you feel better soon. I know how you feel and it really really hurts.
