Hi Ladies,
Things have been pretty nice lately other than the current yeast infections... I have an appointment setup for May 8th with my new GYN/OB doctor. They have me on a call list if they get a cancelation. My annual Pap and pelvic is due soon so I thought I should find a doctor that I might be able to trust.
My Mom has a friend who has worked for a couple GYN doctors in the area so she was able to steer me to one that is pretty good. So we'll see.
On a side note, I am trying my hardest to acquire my post-operative report from 10 years ago on my colon for the upcoming appointment. That report would at least provide some kind of useful information. Not only would it state how much colon I lost, but also what part was removed, how it was reconnected, and if there were already any adhesions/scar tissue and/or endometriosis already present. The average person has 5-6 feet of colon. According to my father, I lost 3 feet so perhaps 50-60%. The risks for a lap may be to great since I don't have much to spare as it is. We'll see. At least it's something.
I have finally come to the understanding that unless my problems with adhesions/scar tissue can be resolved than I have no chance of a natural pregnancy. Upon further digging, endometriosis can also 'trap' an egg that is released. This could be what is happening on my left side. It is rather interesting. Any woman can have endometriosis. However, endometriosis left untreated can lead to adhesions and later scar tissue. If you have had prior abdominal/pelvic surgery like me, you will already have adhesions and scar tissue. I received some records from my old GYN doctor in Pottsville, PA, and I found a very interesting ultrasound. The ultrasound stated the cyst on my left ovary was an endometrioma. Basically, the cyst was caused by endometriosis. That was 2-3 years ago... I have reason to believe that I have all three issues...
Digging further yet, endometriosis can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting properly to the uterine wall. It can also damage an perfectly normal egg as well. That may explain the two cycles that I have had over the past year that show implantation spotting with a clear temp dip. I may not have been nuts stating the chance of chemical pregnancies or very early miscarriages. You will get your periods on time, and most likely, not test + on any pregnancy test because there just isn't enough hormones in your bloodstream. You may or may not ever know unless you are charting.
So if I am having chemical pregnancies at least something is happening.
I don't know if a lap is possible. However, maybe shots like Lupron would work for 6 months, depending on how severe my symptoms are. Endometriosis is fueled by estrogen. Lupron supresses your periods which allows the endometriosis to shrink. Thus in 6 months, I would have a better chance of pregnancy. The other option is the birth control pill which also shrinks things. However, my best chance is still the lap. If a lap could be done, I would have a 15-20% chance each month for the next 6 months instead of 1% like now. Also, my miscarriage rate would be much lower. After 6 months of the lap, the endometriosis grows back and starts to disable you again. The lap buys you the most time because you are removing the messed up tissue not just shrinking it.
So, I don't know. We'll see. I cautiously excited. I may have to stop TTC for 6 months in order to get somewhere... We'll see. My odds can't be any worse than they already are. I have nothing to lose.
I'm praying that I'll be able to get the post-operative report. At the time, it was HIGHLY secretive because the hospital could have got sued. I was even sent to John Hopkin's in Maryland at the time for a second opinion. Basically, they said what was Hershey waiting for. For me to die... Then, John Hopkin's convently lost me records! My parents did consult a lawyer but were advised that they wouldn't win. The issue was dropped. To this day, my parents and I know almost nothing other than I lost 3 feet. This will be the FIRST TIME that I will have the answers before me. I'm hoping after 10 years that the case has been 'forgotten'.
The whole colon episode happened due to Hershey misdiagnosing my burst appendix for a viral infection. I nearly died. The damage was already done to my colon which I later lost 9 months later...

I narrowly escaped death twice.
Now you know why I don't trust doctors...To this day, I also have mild cirrhosis and take daily medication. When I went to the RE in July, he joked me as liking to drink. I shook my head no and explained that I had cirrhosis since I was 14 thanks to all the trouble that happened. It felt like an a** after that.
