Well we went to the GI today, and he was very concerned that Noah hadn't gained any weight; in fact he'd lost six lbs. The GI switched him from pediasure to this stuff called Just For Kids. He wants him to drink 5, COUNT THEM,5 of these drinks a day! He said it doesn't matter if Noah eats actual food or not. He'll get re-weighed in a month, if there's no change he'll up the stuff and the pancrecarb. After another month if his weight gain isn't what it should be we may discuss getting a g-tube. He doesn't anticipate it coming to that. I'm with him on that. If anyone has any experience w/ Just For Kids let me know your experience or whatever. Sorry so long.

Just curious.....
Does your GI doc also take into account that your son has autism????
I think I heard somewhere that milk is not good for kids with autism. Although JUST FOR KIDS is lactose free, it is not free from the protein, which I think is one of the issues for people with autism.
Blessings,
Missa

We tried them quite a while ago, when Emily was 18 months, or so. She couldn't tolerate them. SHe seemed to like the taste, but she would vomit shortly after having one. I finally gave up. She would never drink pediasure. Didn't like the smell, but she didn't mind the Just For Kids.

I know another family that uses them, and LOVEs them. Hope it works for you!

My son was on Just for Kids for a short time for his nighttime feeds by G-tube. He threw-up a lot on it. It has a higher fat content than pediasure and he couldn't tolerate it.
