Hi there,

Happy New Year to all our CF family and friends. Okay, here is my question. Johnny's next 3 month CF clinic lands on Valentines day at 8:30....He still goes on baby cf clinic day. They only have once a month and during morning hours. That's 2/14..and this month is booked already. I put a call in this morning hoping for a miracle. I really want Johnny to attend his 1st Valentines Day at preschool. He has his first little girlfriend, and want this for him. Do you think they might give us another month. Or is this just part of CF Life....I'm not really willing to have him visit on big kids day at clinic. Like to avoid it until we have to go! Ohhh, I just want this for my little man. Wondering if I have any hope of getting clinic to work with us.

Thanks Sarah

Most clinics will gladly reschedule you to another day the doctor is available, be it a non-infant day, a day when the doctor is on service instead of in clinic, etc. I would forgo the scheduling coordinator and talk to your nurse. She has access to your docs schedule and can help fit you in somewhere else. In my experience, your doctor and nurse try to protect their patients' quality of life and try to make sure CF does not stand in the way of our kids leading a very normal life. Good luck!

Hopefully they'll work with you and be flexible by either letting you go on a different day, go next month instead... I'd be more apt to wait until next month if DS was feeling okay...

They should be able to work with you. As long as your son is doing well and is healthy I would reschedule so he can have some fun!

One year Maggie's routine appointment was schedule on her first day of first grade; NO way was my daughter missing that for CF clinic. The clinic rescheduled her appointment ; no problem.

Thanks for giving me some hope! I'm still waiting on the CF nurse. I know it may sound silly to some people....But, this has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks. I didn't want to make a fuss....just go with the plan. But, this little ache in my heart said "Don't let him miss this good stuff"...Life can be filled with sooo much bad parts...we have to enjoy the good days..right?

Thanks Again,

Sarah

Emily has had to miss a couple special events at school due to clinic and other specialty appts and that was VERY upsetting. The only reason I didn't/couldn't reschedule was because she wasn't doing well enough to put things off for a while~ since he is doing well, I would try as hard as you can to reschedule. I would think they'd appreciate the importance of keeping him involved in those milestone moments and try as hard as they could to accommodate you. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

eta> It's not silly at all. Emily missed her 2nd grade 'graduation' photo (they move up to a new school for 3rd-5th grade) due to a clinic appt that we COULDN'T miss- she was getting over a serious exacerbation... and then missed a talent show this past spring for a surgeon consult for gtube surgery, and I cried both times. So it's NOT SILLY and you shouldn't feel bad about 'making a fuss.' We want our kids to have those moments, and yes we grab the good every single time we can, because we know there are times they will miss things.
