Katie Couric Slaps Co-Worker

Boston Herald, July 10 - The pressure of being the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" has frustrated Katie Couric so much, she slapped a co-worker last month. Apparently, Katie was mighty miffed that news editor Jerry Cipriano slipped in the word, "sputum," into her copy while delivering a story about tuberculosis.

Post-newscast, Couric lost her cool and confessed to New York maggie: "I sort of slapped him around." "I got mad at him and said, 'You can't do this to me. You have to tell me when you're going to use a word like that.' I was aggravated, there's no question about that."

The two moved on once they agreed to ban sputum - a word used to describe saliva mixed with mucus or pus in the lungs - from future broadcasts. And Couric said the incident is now a "kind of a joke."

In New York's lengthy profile of the TV news gal, Couric admitted the stress of the program's rapidly declining ratings coupled with the constant dissing from anonymous colleagues in the press, is chipping away at her polished, perky demeanor.

Today's poll asks, "Why Do You Think Katie Couric Slapped A Staffer?"

Talk about it here.

Wow... Thats crazy.. "Sputum" Come on now!

Oh, sure! It's ok to have a colonoscopy on live television for the nation to see, but saying sputum on the air? *gasp!* She really needs to get over herself.

Sputum is a word used in the medical field. Its not a curse word or a made up word. She just doesnt like the sounds of it?

Odd very very odd
