I dont know whats going on??? I went in for a hospital stay. Did the ivs an then got sick again 3wks later. I went back in did more ivs. Now its been another 2 wks and im feeling short of breath again. Ive never been like this at all. Up til i was early 20s i was neverhospitalized. It was up til about 2 months ago. I would only go in the hospital maybe twice a yr. This past 2 months. Ive been in 2 times an now starting to feel the same for the 3rd time. Other than just being tired an having no energy. The only other symptom im having is short of breath. No fevers ir anything. Has anyone else had this???? Does it go away or just get worse???

One thing you could look into -- though I don't hear drs bring it up so maybe I'm way off base -- is yeast/fungus. I have a candida species in my lungs and i suspect its why after my last few rounds of abs, I feel better from the fatigue/pain perspective, but I've gurgly upper airway breathing and SOB for a while. Before the yeast, I would be like that only after bigger exacerbations. I may be making a bogus connection though and it hasnt been bad enough to ask for antifungals with/after the abs.

Hi Matt, I am not sure what your PFT's are, but my lung function is very low and I am getting ready to do my pre-transplant meetings, that is why I am always short of breath. It's such a bummer, and I can totally understand how scary it is to be short of breath a lot. When I do anything besides sit, I get short of breath. Have you ever thought of doing home IV's? I do them and they are great, I only go into the hospital when I need oxygen or have pneumonia.

Hospital stays will cause deconditioning. Try walking as exercise.

Bill, isn't this the truth! I can NOT stand going into the hospital because of being so sedentary and being interrupted 100 times a day. Lack of sleep and no time to get out of the room and MOVE is not very helpful when we need the most help.

Hi I'm just going through the same and its driving me mad. I have a few months ago been for pre assessment for lung transplant but not the full one. But I'm beginning to wonder if things are moving quicker than I thought as had ivs 2 weeks ago plus two weeks of oral antibiotics tried hay fever tablets but its my upper chest affecting me with pain even just carrying shopping and non stop coughing until your sick its so annoying my lung cap is 32. People keep saying its a bad summer for pollen ect but sure it's more than that. Hope your all not too bad at the mo.

This is just not usual for me. Let me explain little more. Im usually in hospital maybe 2 times a year an have been still very active, but when it hit me i went in came out good. Then 3 wks later back in hospital again. Bc i cant breathe. So i did another treatment came out good again then slowly getting short again, then at the 3 wks back in hospital. Come out the third time same thing im good then slowly getting short of breathe. Other than i cant breathe, no fevers or coughing more nothing just for some reason going back to short of breathe an thats not like me. When u get worse off does it just hit you?

Check to see if you have allergies and get shots. These help me. Exericse as much as you can even if its cleaning house or walking in your driveway.

These are the two possible causes I was going to suggest.
I know a CFer who started declining rapidly and then dying after developing an allergy to aspergillus.

If you have yeast infection, it is likely that antibiotics will cause the infection to flare up because the yeast will find itself with no bacteria to compete with. See if you culture it.

Another possibility is a mild allergic reaction to an antibiotic that is too mild to actually be noticeable. When I started having allergic reactions to Tazocin, I noticed that I would feel much more out of breath when I had just finished a course of antibiotics than before I started it. It would take me at least 2 weeks to recover from that mild allergic reaction.

If I were you, I would try a different antibiotic next time.
