My doc sent me for bloodwork today, you know the usual stuff. But this time he is checking up on my kidneys...I'm embarassed to ask, but why would he do this? Hey Lynn,
My dr. does this all the time when I'm on IV meds. I usually do Tobra and Merropennen (sp). He orders this to make sure my kidneys are filtering the meds and tollerating them without any irritation. If you think about it, our kidneys have to endure a lot with all of the foreign meds in our systems and, at least my dr, likes to keep track to make sure my body, as a whole is functioning well. I know that some meds (Tobra) can affect your hearing if the levels are too high, so this also is a good measure. Hope this helps. Kelli
