AM Arthritis and joint pain are very common. Worse in females, worse during infection and mensturation. I get it all the time and it is a drag. I know it hurts, and I've woken up at night too, but your 3 year old may be exagerating because her emotions are high and she doesn't like the discomfort. When she is older, they may reccomend high doses of ibuprofen. A good idea but it isn't good to use it to often or too long. My rheumatologist has reccomended tylenol when the pain acts up. I am on Vioxx once a day and it has kept the pain at bay w/o the side effects of ib. I don't know about the recomendation for small children, but it would be worth asking about. Let her soak in the bath tub when it flares up, I usually dissolve a cup or two of epsom salt in my bath water. If you use it, don't worry if some of the water gets in her mouth, it's often used as a laxitive. I also use heat, cold packs. Keep her hydrated.Hope it helps, let her know she's not alone!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">Debbie22 yr old w/ cf
