Knock some sense into me.

Hey, what's going on? My name is Jeremy and I am 16, to be 17 on May 21st. I seriously like don't take care of myself and i'm so close to dying I don't mean to get everyone on this board down, I guess i'm just looking for some emotional support from my own "people". I've never joined any CF group or anything before. I know alot about my disease I guess, but I have 4 other diseases on top of the CF, so it makes things hard. One thing is I don't do my Tube Feeds to gain the weight, which I should. I don't know why, but I think I gave up on myself.

don't give up hope Jeremy! we'd all like you around long enough to get to know you why don't you give us some background on yourself? sometimes that makes people feel better too, and can kinda give them a new slate to start off on. start with little goals, like just getting all the medication you need for a week straight on time. once you've got that done, start something else, organization is the key haha, well ttyl Jeremy

oh PS im like almost the same age as you :p but im a girl, lol...not a boy

Hey Jeremy, you have a crappy disease that takes a lot of work and a lot of energy. You're bound to have bad days. Maybe you should get on an antidepressant?
What other things are you dealing with? Sounds pretty overwhelming. My sons have a g-tube too and I know when they aren't getting good nutrition they feel worse overall.

You asked us to knock some sense into you- so you must want to stick around. We hope you do. Keep writing.

Speaking from experience here......if you health is going down that makes you depressed, but yet it keeps going down because you are depressed. I encourage you with all my heart to take control of things. WOrk on your meds & treatments & do the best you can to maintain your health. Its a pain in the butt & sometimes seems like it wont make a difference, but it does. All I can say is Trust Me~

Ditto 2 all the above. You've gotta take care of yourself.

I know life sucks sometimes but life is soo totally worth living. Just look at all the things around you. Sometimes when I have been sick for a long while I think well what is the purpose the end result is all the same, it is just about the time it takes to get there right. Well thats wrong think of all the things that you would miss out on if you died tomorrow. I know people say that CF kids can't do everything normal healthy people do but that isn't true either we may not be able to do it as fast as noraml people but we can still do it. You can find inspiration every where that you look. Try making some goals for yourself like if you hate doing gtube feed as I do myself try eating more during the day so you don't have to do as many cans at night. Start out simply and you will start feeling better in no time at all. Then you can look back and say I have made over another obstical.

The thing that stood out most to me from your post, is that you are not feeding yourself. When you don't get enough nutrition, you are going to notice that you feel worn down, tired, and lack motivation to do anything.

It's hard to deal with cf as a teenager, but if anything, take it one step at a time. The first step should be to start feeding yourself again. Have your mom and dad or a friend help you if you need that motivation to get started. I have a feeling that once you start getting the proper nutrition you need, you'll find your outlook will change.

People get depressed - its normal. But depression can be caused by many things - talk to your parents or your doctor if you think this is something that needs to be addressed.

You can do it
