Ok, first, sorry if this has already been done; I searched the forum with different keywords, and found a few posts on the general time-of-month stuff, but nothing really fit my question.
I'm nearly 21, w/CF. It's pretty mild (PFTs are in the 120s/110s usually, and I haven't been admitted in over 3 years). I'm also on a progesterone birth control. I can't take the estrogen ones because I am prone to migraines with auras, and estrogen can increase the chance of stroke or increase the instance of migraines.
Anyway, ever since I can remember, I have never had a "regular" period schedule. I can have two in a month, or skip a month; it varies big time. I originally tried the estrogen b.c. to see if that would help but, because of the migraines, couldn't stay on it long enough to find out. The progesterone b.c. haven't had any effect on them.
I was just wondering if others with CF have this issue? If you do, have you found anyways to get it on a schedule? It would just be nice to know when to expect it, you know?

I never have a regular schedule. I vary from 3 weeks to 5 weeks. I'm not extremely thin (5'6 117 lb) but wonder if that has anything to do with it?

We've been trying to get pregnant for 6 years and what makes it more frustrating is that I don't really know when I'm ovulating and it's hard to count days when I'm all over the map.

I've never been on birth control, so I don't know if the other one would help you. I also have not heard of anything (non-hormone) that would make me more regular. I just have to guess and plan my wardrobe accordingly!

I don't have Experience with CF and female cycles but I myself practise "Natural Family Planning" since many Years. We used it As a very Safe method of birth Control and last Year it helped us receiving our daughter within One month of "trying".
With the method you learn how to interpret the Natural signs of your Body and like this you will Know exactly the 2-3 days around your Ovulation. It is also Safe when you have irregular periods!

I would quit taking the pill and check out the Natural Cycle of your Body.
If you are underweight it can cause your period to stop. But you did Not Write anything about your weight.

For those who want to get pregnant:
it is Most important to check the cervical mucus. It would Be interesting to compare the mucus Pattern for Women with CF. If the mucus is too difficult to check it is also Easily possible to Monitor the cervix.

I Hope my English was understandable...

I also have some girlie issues. Mine is pretty irregular as well, it's also (pardon my description) kind of thick, not a "flow'. I am not sure if that relates to CF or if it's just my body.

Well count me in. I never had regular periods either. Im 22 now and i first had my period when i was 12. The first year i had my period usually twice in a month. The last few years im usually late.... Ugh. Ive seen a gyn and he told me there was nothing wrong with me. It will regulate itself over the years. I have noticed that Ivs often cause me to be late with my period and generally mess me up. Oral meds or nebs do not make a difference i think.

Never had regular periods until I was in my late twenties, then it settled down a bit into a 29-31 day cycle. Always had LOTS of bleeding during ovulation, and during period time. And not just for a few days either....a week to 10 days sometimes. Horrid cramps too. Anyhow, its much better now, only lasts about 5 days, flow isnt too heavy, a lot less chunks (OK, gross, I know, sorry). Best of all, less pain. But yeah, its always pretty much sucked at your age and was unpredictable. I've never used chemical birth control. So yes, others with CF have this issue.
