Las Vegas clinic?

Hello,

My family is considering moving to Las Vegas next year. I have a preschooler with cf and was wondering if anyone is in the Vegas area who has some input about the clinic. My husband and I met with the staff there a couple of years ago and we were very impressed, but we haven't talked with any patients yet. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Carey - we live in Las Vegas and have a 4 year old with CF. We love the clinic's doctors and nurses! They are wonderful and very helpful whenever we have problems, questions, etc. If you have any specific questions about the clinic, let me know, I will try my best to answer

Hi, I don't know if anyone still checks this post, but I'm scheduled for an appt. at the Vegas clinic for the first time. I'm wondering if anyone has any info. on it? Do you like it? Are they "germ conscious"? Are they friendly? I am 27 years old, so I assume I'll be seen in the adult clinic. What kind of staff do they have? Do they allow you to be proactive in your care? Thanks for any information you can give. Anything other than my questions would be great too.

Our 4 year old attends the Las Vegas CF clinic and we love it. Obviously she doesn't go to the adult CF doctor, but from what we have heard, she (the doc) is great. The staff is also wonderful! They are VERY germ conscious and have the best interest in mind for ALL patients! In fact, one of the nurses has an adult daughter who just went through a lung transplant.

Best of luck to you!

Hi!

Thanks so much for your input. I haven't been to the board for a while, so I'm just reading your post now. Our clinic director in the state I currently live in just told me that the Las Vegas pediatric pulm. just passed away. Dr. Ruiz or something? I heard great things about him and even met him last time we visited the clinic. We also met Tara (the cf nurse...I think that's her name) and the respiratory therapist with the adult daughter that you mentioned (I have to ask this....were they on Dr. Phil????) Anyway, I'd love to ask you more questions about the clinic. What would be the best way to contact you? We're planning our move this summer. We're excited and nervous at the same time (what happened to the price of housing there??? Yikes!). Thanks so much!

Hi Carey - Dr. Diaz did just pass away about a month ago...it was really sad! Yes, Tara is one of the nurses, and the nurse with the adult CF daughter is Cynthia...they were on Dr. Phil. They are still by the Meadows Mall.

Housing prices have gone way up over the past year...it is nuts! It is starting to slow down a little, but I would hate to be buying a house right now! I would be more than happy to discuss more with you. Why don't you post your email address and I will get in touch with you. From there, we can also exchange phone number if you want Keri

Keri, what a huge help you have been already. I have been looking for someone whose child attends the clinic. So, this is great! Have they found a replacement for Dr. Diaz? How terribly sad. He was so young and seemed like a really great guy. My email address is: Bono40@aol.com. I would love to ask you more questions. Thank you so much!

Hello again. I'm still bumping and hoping to find someone who sees the ADULT doc at the Vegas clinic. I was unimpressed with Tara.... does she get better as you get to know her? She was very snooty with me and didn't smile once when I was at my first appointment. Needless to say, I have not gone back. I would REALLY like to chat with any adult that has visited the Vegas clinic and what their experiences were like. Also, for anyone who has gone to the clinic... What hospital do you get admitted to for "tune-ups"? I am confused since the actual center is just an office. Is the hospital nice and germ-concious? Thanks for any info.

You may have caught Tara on a bad day because every time I have talked with her, she has been extremely helpful! I think the clinic has been especially stressed since the passing of Dr. Diaz (from what I've heard). Try it again - maybe your experience will be better this time. Good luck, Carey
