Absolutely! My son was 15 when he was diagnosed. There are members here who were dx in their 20's, 30's & 40's, believe it or not. My son's symptoms were mild and a-typical, so it wasn't so obvious. Of course, hind-sight is 20/20, so now I know why he had certain previously unexplained symptoms.

Is it you who is being tested or your child? I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Let us know what happens.

I know a woman that was diagnosed in her late 40's, early 50's. Amazingly the doctor didn't pick up on the signs. She happened to be reading a magazine while in the waiting room (for the hundreth time), the article was about CF...so she asked her doc about it.

absolutely again!!! Both my kids were diagnosed in their teens - see the first entry of my blog page for more details.

I too have heard of many people up to their 50's just getting diagnosed. I personally know of one woman who was diagnosed at age 42.

So many doctors do not realize that it is a possibility because they have old school knowledge that says CF is a childhood disease... the truth is very different now that we can tests for CF genes and many of them are proving to be mild variant (class 4 and 5) which means people are presenting at a later age and/or with more mild or a-typical symptoms.
