Letter from doc

Hello and happy Independence Day!!!

I recently heard from a lawyer who is familiar with CF regarding my recent app for SSDI...

She mentioned having a dr. write a letter stating how I meet the criteria and how and why I cannot work.

Just curious how many of you had this done on your initial application for SSDI and whether or not you were accepted on your initial application or had to appeal?

I did not send it with my initial application, and am curious if I should send it now and if so, who I send it to? I have some other paperwork I am putting together that needs to be sent to them (i.e. work history, daily activities, etc.) and was curious if I should just add it in with that stuff?

Just curious how everyone else handled this and whether they had a Doc's note?

Thanks!

my aunt works with the legal system a bit and has had to apply for SSDI for my uncle and she said the doctor note can be the most important note and if you cant get a good letter then it increases chances being turned down. Now she is no expert and her cases are not CF type stuff but just my 0.02.

When I applied for SSD I did it all on the Internet. I did not have anything to send into them when I first applied because I just waited for a reply that they got my application and what they needed from me. I signed all of the forms for records to be released from my CF doc, gastroenterologist, GP, my transplant clinic, and probably a few other docs. I had some testing at the transplant clinic about a couple of weeks after they told me what they needed and I sent those test results automatically when I had my doc print them out for me....my PFT's were really low and I knew that would help. I never sent in a letter from my doc (but have heard that it helps) and I was approved not too long after I sent in the most recent PFT results.
