Hey there:

I know that when my brother took Levequin he got a rash...I am not sure if it took him a week or two to get rid of it...Levaquin also gave him severe joint pain and made him pass out. Of course I can take it and it doesnt bother me........

I stopped taking Levaquin six days ago. I did not get a severe rash, however, I do have tingling in my arms and legs. I feel shaky and nervous. I have awful chest pains, and I was rushed to the hopsital with a rapid heart beat and passed out. My muscles now ache and I feel tired all the time. I wish I had never taken Levaquin and cannot wait for these symptoms to go away, so my life can return to normal.

Sorry to bring up this old post, but I started Levaquin last evening & was up for hours, wide awake. Is this a side effect that anyone else has had from Levaquin? It may have been me having a bad night too.

It's been a long time since I've taken Levaquin and I think I remember joint pain the last time I took it. Does anyone know what causes the joint pain? And is it dangerous to continue on Levaquin despite the joint pain? Thanks for any feedback.

Hi there :

I have been taking this med since friday of this past week. I am on a 750 once a day dose. I have had a terrible time sleeping at nite. The first night i took it i was so dizzy and sick feeling.....made me lose most of my appetite, i have this constant dry mouth and bad taste in my mouth....yuck!!! This med works good to kill the bugs in my lungs so it is worth it...at least for me if i dont get any really bad side effects from it.....My brother is allergic to it. When he took it he got so dizzy he passed out. His joints were hurting and eventually started to swell up. He had to stop the med. He is allergic to alot of meds now. So, tiredness, cant sleep, dizzy, bad TASTE in my mouth, cotton mouth, lack of appetite...are the bad things for me.....the good.....it is helping.....my lungs are not aching nearly as bad and the wheezing is easing up.......If you keep getting joint pain .......or it is causing alot of joint pain... if your joints get warm or swell i would definatley call your doc on it. You could be allergic.......it is that sensitive to the drug verses actually allergic to it line ya know......good luck with the med........i hope it stops causing you pain.....and makes you better.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I long time ago I was on Levaquin. I refuse to take it now, because my first side-effect was not being able to sleep. I would be awake half the night since I began the medication. Also, my stomach became very bloated and I just couldn't eat. Everything was going through me with hardly eating anything. Then my heart started beating really fast as I was sitting on the couch. I called the nurses to let them know I am not taking this med anymore. I did't pass out or anything, thank goodness. I really don't like that med, and i will never take it again.

My 20 year old daughter developed a stiff neck and a bright red rash while taking Levaquin. She will never try it again.

Tessa,
Do you remember how many days you had taken the Levaquin before your heart started racing?
What about hot flashes, do you remember having those?

Last time I took Levaquin...it was no fun. I was worse than before I took it. I got extremely dizzy (afraid to drive/some trouble walking), nausea/vomiting, and high fever (100.7 - 101). It actually caused me to miss a couple days of work. A few days after I stop taking it, the dizziness and nausea went away and the fever began to come down a few days after that. I had never had problems with Levaquin before but some with it's "cousin" Cipro. The doctors told me it could be an allergic or have an adverse reaction to it. I'm not allow to take it again, nor do I want to.

Hey Elle,

My heart started beating really fast not any long than 4 days of taking it. I remember because with some drugs that if there are side effects, usually if I can make it through the first week the side-effects sub-side. This one was too hard on my body and I thought increased heart rate, not a good thing.

Levaquin made me dizzy. Years ago, at my 8th grade graduation, we had to talk about 2 blocks to our graduation site from school, and I was little wobbly from Levaquin. Notto mention I had one 4 inch high shoes!

I was just rereading and saw that I stated that I had 'one four inch high shoe'. I did, in fact have two shoes ON, both of which were four inches high LOL. And to the previous poster, Levaquin is an antibiotic.

My boyfriend had to stop taking Levaquin- he didnt get a rash but he was having trouble sleeping, and was having HORRIBLE aches and pains in his joints.. he actually just stopped taking imipenam (his IV medicine) though bc he broke out in a rash.. it was all along his waste and back, and looked like a lot of tiny red bumps..

Levaquin is made of cipro and doxycyclene. This is my 6th day on it.........i am starting to finally be able to sleep better. The extra air in my stomach is not letting up tho....this medicine makes acid acid acid for me.......My lungs are feeling better. I did notice last night that after i did some light swimming in the pool here that all my muscles were hurting. they dont hurt this morning tho....crazy medicine with so many side affects but a good one right now for me it seems to be working........
