Just curious if anyone could tell me if it is possible to get life insurance for my son, who was dx. with cf at one week of age. We , of course, have been unable to get it for him through several companies because of his CF. Just wondering if there were any other companies/agencies out there who don't ask about illnessess/diseases, etc. I am doubting it, but hope someone out there can point me in the right direction as to where to go. Thanks.

Jodi, mom to Tucker w/cf

Mark and I have life ins. through State farm (as well as renters, car, disability...). If you go to search and type life insurance at the top of this forum, you might come up with some previous posts where this was discussed adn other shared what insurance companies they had in spite of the CF.

We got both of our kids on Perm. Ins. at an early age through Northwestern Mutual, they didn't ask questions. Although we found out about the CF after our daughter was set up. But we set up our son at 1 month for safety sake and I remember them not asking any questions.

Chuck dad to Avery 2 years w/cf, and Rhett 6 months carrier

This is just a warning. I had 2 policies through Combined Life. CF is on their list of uninsurable illnesses, but I had the policies long enough that I was grandfathered in. However; after I stopped working & we had no extra $$$ my premiums didnt get paid. I was under the "assumption" that as long as I had cash value on the policy for the premiums to come off of I was ok. The amount that would be paid out upon my death would be less unless ithe premiums got paid back, but the policy would remain inforce. WRONG....come to find out that this was their way of dropping me. There are a few more details (time frame) involved, but thats the basics. I lost my life insurance & so far with the help of my CF office & my insurance agent I cant find anyone who will insure me. The longer it takes the more expensive I would imagine it gets & I am assuming there would be a waiting period for preexisting condition just like on other insurance. My social worker at the CF clinic said she has never had an adult get life insurance as an adult, but was able to keep what they had as a child. To parents of CFers.....try to do as much in the insurance/disability arena as possible. It makes it so much easier when we are older!!!!!!!
