As most know, I have lost the new job I started 3 months ago, after quitting a company I worked at for 13 years to go there.
So, if anyone were to ask last Friday, "Well, Fred, you lost your job, now what are you going to do?"
I'd reply with "I'm going to a Bon Jovi Concert!!"
Yuka and I had plans that Saturday to go, and our tickets put us in the eleventh row! We were off to the far right of the stage, but Jon came over that way on occasion! Ritchi was the closest! He didn't move as much (maybe cause his extension cord wouldn't let him move so much--haha! it's a Cordless Guitar!)
Anyway, Bon Jovi had some new songs I wasn't familiar with, but will be looking for the CD on the net, probably at Yahoo Auction!
I ended up going home with a sore throat (from singing to the top of my lungs when Jon cued us to sing the verses), and arms so sore I couldn't raise them above my head anymore (Cause we were all raising our hands, esp. for the song, "Raise Your Hands"!), and my ears were ringing a little (cause it was a ROCK concert!).
It wasn't till I realized the tune "Livin' on a Prayer" was about a guy who lost his job, and the wife was working to pay the bills, that I realized it was also describing Yuka and me!
I don't have a guitar to hoc, but may hoc some of my Radio Control cars.
As for the Bon Jovi concert, it was well worth it! I've seen them twice while living in the states (Detroit, where it was once known as the number one rockin' city!), and thought they were just as good, if not better.
BTW, they didn't have great big tv screens 14 years ago, but it was neat watching them on the tv monitors, at their concert here.
I hope some other big names (like Journey, cause Yuka and I both love them!) come here so I can go see them.
Nothing compares to watching your favorite groups live, so I highly suggest anyone who loves music to at least see one live concert (make sure you know the words to ALL their songs, you may have to sing them to the Band!)

I'm glad you had a good time rockin with Bon Jovi. That would be a good one to see in addition to Journey.
A local radio station had '2 for Tuesday' yesterday & they played 2 Boston songs. I love them too. Do you know if that band is still together/around???
I was unaware that you are no longer employed. I assume you're job hunting right now & how's that going?

Lynda,

I've always enjoyed Boston's first album, 'Boston', but didn't really follow them after that, other than their song, "Amanda" from the second album they made.

As far as job hunting, I'm gonna need a bigger gun, for this one!
I really can't do anything as of yet, because I'm waiting for the paperwork to be done, so I can hand it into the unemployment and start my 'hunt'. Right now, I'm looking for my resume data I put on CD?,Floppy?,MO? (can't remember where I saved it!), and will probably end up re-writing EVERYTHING if I can't find it. I was gonna just start writing it, but when I found out that after moving my wireless LAN hub, the reception increased to my computer upstairs, and I had to take it for a test drive, first!
Although, most of the good jobs seem to be in Tokyo, I can't go that far for a job. Gotta stay within Osaka, and hopefully be able to find a job in which my commute is either a half hour away, or on only one railway line if it's an hour commute. It's so exhausting having to change trains every 15 minutes, can't get a thing done during that time (like reading a book, even).
Anyway, Yuka's keeping an eye open for when Journey comes to town. Apparently they were here last year, the same time we went to the States!
Hopefully, within a reasonable time, I'll find one. I may even apply to "Job Seekers" to help me with the search.

What a bummer that you can't find your resume file. That's not something any of us look forward to typing up again. Do you at least have a paper copy of your resume that you can go off of? If you're like me, I would never figure out previous dates of employment, etc. without at least the paper copy.
I am unfamiliar with customs in Japan, but you mentioned your commute....I assume that most people don't drive cars to work there? Is the work day an 8 hour day there too? I was just thinking that those 8 hours could easily stretch into more if you had to walk to a rail station each morning, commute and then walk to your place of employment.
Good luck with that job search and keep us posted!

Sorry for the delay in reply. Been busy keeping house, job searching, relaxing, etc.!
I went to the "Foreigners Employment Center" yesterday and discussed about how resumes are done in Japan. Using the resume that I built up (had to retype half, after finding the other half on a disk), I took it with me after updating it.
I was told I have some touch up to do on their JIS (Japan International Standard) type resume, and I have to build a seperate resume for a more detailed list of what I did at the previous jobs. I can either go in reverse-chronological order (easier because that is fresher), or go in chronological order back to after graduation.
The hard part will be the translation to Japanese for the detailed resume and the cover letter to follow.
Well, gotta get back to work, I have grocery shopping to do today, and gotta wake up the Terror-Bear!!
