liver problems

How many people here are on meds for their liver? I just got some lab results back that revealed that my liver is having some problems.

I have yet to need to go on meds for it, but they've told me at least once that my liver is "enlarged and inflamed." Like it gets irritated from time to time, but it's not failing or anything. It was enough for them to tell me to almost stop drinking altogether for a few weeks, though. And it's not as if I'm an alcoholic. I don't drink that much or that often, but they wanted to give my liver a break. I was instructed not to drink, and if I did, to stick to beer malt liquor, or wine coolers, as opposed to hard liquor.

What dictated your liver damage/needs for meds? I ask since I have already been told that my liver is slightly enlarged which is no uncommon for CF & with my recent problems, my liver enzymes were out of balance. That took awhile to become normal, but it finally did. My doctor hasnt shown any real concern as of yet.

I have a question. Is the sirhosis (sp) of the liver usually diagnosed when you're a child or am I, at the age of 17, prone to it? I definately have more lung problems with hardly any gastro problems, so I don't know if this is any indication of things to come..

My 2 yr old is on actigol 2x a day as well. His liver was slightly enlarged and his liver levels were up. Without the papers in front of me I couldn't tell you what the levels were. They first discovered it with routine blood tests. He has a lot of digestive issues with some lung as well.

My two year old son is on Actigal as well twice a day. His liver was enlarged and GGT numbers were high when he was an infant. Since starting actigal his liver size is "closer to normal" and his liver enzymes numbers are normal. We were told when he was three months old that he had liver disease and they still say he does.

The experiences here are always helpful. I have my ultrasound on Monday to see what is going on because my levels on my liver test are all elevated 3 times higher than last test. I hope that i just end up with a pill.

My baby has been taking actigall twice a day since March and his liver enzymes have still not gone down any. But hey they haven't gotten any higher so that's a plus

You know what is so crazy..as I was reading this post, I was like, "oh, that's right, that is what actigal is for." I can remember a lot, but everyone once in a while I am not sure about those tiny pills sometimes.
