"Guess what? Lo sat in a chair today for an hour! She was pretty much asleep for most of it but after 13 days, it was a huge welcome! They are weaning her off the sedation. So far, she has decided it would be more fun to get up and go home. We hope she will realize it will be easier to stick around for awhile! Otherwise, they may have to keep her sedated until transplant. We'd rather have her be able to 'talk' to us via writing, and exercise to gain strength, etc. Anyway, she was able to smile several times today and wave her hands a little. She let us know when she wanted to change positions, too. Progess!
The first and last thing I do each day is read these messages from you all. I can't tell you how encouraging they've been for all of us. While Jane had the idea, it was also Cathey Capozziello (my niece) who has been the steam engine to get it up and running, make sure everyone gets added to the list, respond to each and every one. She, like her mom, my sister Susie, have shared our story with the world. I claimed Cathey as one of mine 26 years ago. I don't know what I would have done without her. Thank you for your tireless work, Cath!!!!
If you are comfortable with it, please feel free to leave your email address on the Guestbook so I can respond at some point. And thank you again for fueling our hope with your kind words and prayers.
Love,
The Detrichs "
