Long cycle

Hello everyone! Thanks, by the way for everyone on here that give such great advice! It's so great to have people that understand what I am going through!
Anyways, we have been ttc for 1 year now. My cycle seems to finally be regulating out a little bit, but I have noticed that my last couple of cycles have been 37-38 days long, and I have been ovulating on the 24th day approximately.
I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I am concerned that my long cycles will make it even more difficult to conceive. Thanks everyone!

Marisa,

I only have a minute. Have you thought about taking Vitex? Look up the herb and see what you think. My cycles were around 33 days and I was ovulating around day 21/22. On the 2nd month of Vitex I ovulated on day 14. And it happened again the next month (I got pregnant that month). I have NEVER ovulated that early in my cycle before and I attribute it 100% to the vitex. It won't hurt and could even help. Give it a try. Good luck <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Thanks Caroline! I will try the Vitex. Was there a certain brand you took? Also, did you take it continuously or only certain times of your cycle? I am excited to try it and see if it helps. Thanks again!

I don't remember the brand I took. And you need to take it continuously as it needs time to work. I believe I remember reading that most people don't see results right away (more like after a month or 2). You could probably find some good reviews online. I do remember I got it from vitacost.com

I also have a history of long cycles. From 32-39 days long and ovul between day 21-27. Regardless of length, I always seemed to have 11-12 days from ovulation to period.
I've been charting for years, and have about 5 years of charts and they've always been this way.
But after speaking to my obgyn and looking through everything, they came to the conclusion that though my charts/and my body was 'saying' I was ovulating late, I was actually ovulating earlier than I thought. I wouldn't have any positive ovulation tests or egwcm. The only thing was that my temperature would spike a bit around the 'right' time, indicating ovulation-but it wouldn't show in a positive opk or show with egwm till days, even a week later.
The problem was that we were following my charts and my opks and delaying sex until I had a positive test with egcm at the same time. But in reality, my body had already ovulated and the chance was gone by then.
Then we started having sex from day 10-27 regardless of what opks, temps, or anything said. We got pregnant right away, after one year of nothing.
I had taken Vitex, and all kinds of stuff. I think I tried basically everything you can try. Other than easing pms symptoms, I don't think anything really worked for me to readjust my cycles.

Hi there,

When I was charting for IUI, a couple of my cycles were about 45 days long, ovulating in the 20-something day. Then a few months in between my cycles would be more like 33 days apart, so I was very inconsistent. I was very concerned because I thought for sure it would cause a problem for getting pregnant. But I was able to get pregnant on IUI #2, which is not bad at all! But then again, IUI is much different than conceiving normally, so I'm not sure how long cycles will affect that differently.

But good luck!

Thanks again for the recommendation of the Zitex! I have only been taking it for about a month and I am on the 19th day of my cycle and got a positive ovulation test. This is 5 days earlier than my last cycle. Hopefully next cycle is even better! Thanks!
