Does anybody know why people with CF look young for their age? I know they go through puberty at a later stage than non-cfers but how does CF cause that? If anyone could tell me where i can find out that would be great <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

In a nutshell:
Often its due to malnutrition.
You dont absorb the same calories from food as non cfers and use up lots of calories trying to fight of infection.
Therfore you end up with not enough calories left to put towards growth.
Some people would be small anyway even without cf - just our luck to get the cf genes AND the small genes

um im confused now...lol i hit puberty in like...6th grade...i have ahem big boobs for my age....im 14 but ive had them for like...2 years...-shrugs- but im short and tiny!

We know there are people everywhere who look younger than their age... We were just noticing that it seems that many, almost all, of us CFers looks young. We kind of are just wondering why that is.

Oh hmm. I don't know. Perhaps I would've guessed about 14/15. But I know how you feel. Most people guess me at about 16/17.

heh..i like to look young though, cause, when i get older, who knows...maybe people will mistake me to be around 20 when im 30..im also thinking people at that age, who get those kind of comments/remarks take it as a complament -shrugs-

I was just carded at Hollywood Video for getting an R movie... I'll be 19 in 3 weeks. ::sigh:: While I agree this looking young thing will benefit me when I'm older it doesn't stop my friends from laughing their butts off when I tell them about incidents like that.
